Football Game Preview: Stagg Chargers vs. Thornwood Thunderbirds

The Stagg Chargers are taking a road trip to square off against the Thornwood Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stagg hasn't scored more than six points for six games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Stagg's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Waubonsie Valley on Friday. They had to suffer through a 51-0 loss at the hands of the Warriors.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Thornwood against Thornton on Friday as the team secured a 34-6 win. That's two games straight that the Thunderbirds have won by exactly 28 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Thornwood and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Stagg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Stagg didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Thornwood when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
