Volleyball Recap: South Anchorage Wins High-Profile Match Against Eagle River + How To Watch

South Anchorage faced Eagle River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolverines walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Wolves. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-21, 22-25, 25-7, 25-15.

South Anchorage was led to victory by Jessica Gieser and Ellie Kleven. Gieser had 14 digs and seven assists, while Kleven had 29 digs and four aces. Those 29 digs gave Kleven a new career-high. Danica Hacking also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The win made it two in a row for South Anchorage and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Eagle River, their defeat ended a six-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-7.

South Anchorage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against West Valley on the 26th. Eagle River has also already played their next contest (against Lathrop), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
