Basketball Recap: Santa Maria Saints vs. Paso Robles Bearcats
The Santa Maria Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Paso Robles. Santa Maria has not had much luck with the Bearcats recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Santa Maria lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nevaeh Madrigal, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Madrigal is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Hill, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Santa Maria has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Paso Robles, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Santa Maria will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Royals at 6:30 p.m. Mission College Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Saints in California (the Royals are ranked 188th, while the Saints are ranked 490th). As for Paso Robles, they will head out on the road to challenge the Conquistadores at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
