            Softball Recap: Central City Bison vs. NEN        
        
		
        
        
            After soaring to 15  runs the game before, Central City was a bit more limited  in their  matchup  on Saturday. They fell just short of NEN by a score of  3-2. The Bison were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced NEN earlier this season, when they won  12-0.
 Payton Burbach put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   two  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-3 with three  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  double.
 Burbach wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Deja Fothergill, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  run.
Central City's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for NEN, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-9.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Central City is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Fort Calhoun  at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Bison 3, the Pioneers 3.8) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, NEN will  take on  rival Ponca  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
