Soccer Game Preview: Santa Monica vs. Culver City

The Santa Monica Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Culver City Centaurs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Santa Monica saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Beverly Hills. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Culver City waltzed into their game on Saturday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They won by a goal and slipped past the Gondoliers 3-2. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Centaurs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Gondoliers are ranked 132nd).

Culver City pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight contests. As for Santa Monica, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8-1 record this season.

Santa Monica suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Culver City in their previous matchup last Friday. Can Santa Monica avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
