Basketball Game Preview: Rio Hondo Prep Kares vs. Westridge Tigers

Rio Hondo Prep is 9-1 against Westridge since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Rio Hondo Prep Kares will be playing at home against the Westridge Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rio Hondo Prep has three straight wins, Westridge has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Rio Hondo Prep strolled past Chadwick with points to spare, taking the game 53-36.

TARA RILEY was her usual excellent self, going 11 for 18 en route to 25 points along with six boards and six steals. The contest was her 12th in a row with at least ten points. LEAH RODRIGUEZ was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Westridge played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 55-14 loss at the hands of Flintridge Prep. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-6.

Westridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Everything came up roses for Rio Hondo Prep against Westridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-14 win. Does Rio Hondo Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
