Basketball Game Preview: James Logan Colts vs. American Eagles

James Logan is 8-2 against American since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The James Logan Colts will head out to take on the American Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: James Logan has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while American will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Wednesday, James Logan came up short against Moreau Catholic and fell 42-35. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Mariners are ranked 158th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Iwalani Lealao, who posted 14 points and five boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mauriah Mchenry, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, American beat Newark Memorial 53-45 on Wednesday.

American pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for James Logan, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

James Logan strolled past American in their previous matchup on January 7th by a score of 57-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for James Logan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
