Softball Recap: Hickman Find Success

Hickman took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Smith-Cotton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Kewpies had just enough and edged out the Tigers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Kewpies have posted since September 8th.

Tess Moloney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Dani Spratt was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Spratt is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Holt, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Hickman's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Smith-Cotton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickman will host Helias at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Smith-Cotton, they will welcome Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
