Football Game Preview: Manzano Monarchs vs. Silver Fighting Colts

The Manzano Monarchs will face off against the Silver Fighting Colts at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manzano is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Manzano came up short against Valencia and fell 22-14.

Despite the loss, Manzano had strong showings from Broden Price, who gained 122 total yards, and Aiden Erickson, who gained 87 total yards and a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Erickson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Silver won against Chaparral two weeks ago with 21 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Fighting Colts snuck past Albuquerque Academy with a 21-17 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Colts.

Manzano better focus on containing Josiah Madrid and Urijah Arrey as the pair were huge in Silver's win. Madrid threw for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Arrey picked up 41 receiving yards and one score.

Manzano's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Silver, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
