Softball Recap: Putnam County Takes a Loss

Putnam County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the Lincoln County Red Devils, falling 12-0. The War Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Lincoln County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For Lincoln County's part, Emily Minyard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Minyard has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Destiny Turner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kylah Turner, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Putnam County will head out to take on Hawkinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lincoln County, they will venture away from home to face off against Hephzibah at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
