After a string of 12 wins, Lincoln's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Ankeny Hawks by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lincoln of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 23-2-1. As for Ankeny, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-3 record this season.

Lincoln didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Ankeny Christian Academy on the 29th. As for Ankeny, they will challenge Roosevelt on Monday.
