Recap: Highland Scots vs. Independence Falcons
After flying high against the Coast Union Broncos last Thursday, the Highland Scots came back down to earth. Highland was beaten by Independence 61-23 on Friday. Highland has struggled against Independence recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Kaylynn Bolden was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds for Independence. Bolden hasn't dropped below two steals for 16 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Fletcher, who scored 17 points along with six steals.
Highland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Independence, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will take on Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Highland in California (Centennial is ranked 177th, while Highland is ranked 1204th). As for Independence, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bakersfield at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. Bakersfield is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
