Baseball Recap: Mt. Zion's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mt. Zion entered their tilt with Douglass on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Astros 11-9. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-6 on Wednesday.

Xavier Howard was a standout: he scored three runs and stole eight bases while going 2-for-2. Mt. Zion is undefeated when Howard posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Christian Hurt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mt. Zion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in three consecutive games.

The victory got Mt. Zion back to even at 6-6. As for Douglass, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
