Columbus is a perfect 10-0 against Hardaway since September of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Columbus turned things around against Sumter County on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blue Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Addi Hart made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Columbus let Aubrie McBride and Mya Wiggins run wild. McBride went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Wiggins went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Wiggins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Scott, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hardaway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Kendrick on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Cherokees: they've now won four in a row.
Like Columbus, Hardaway also got a great game from a two-way player: Naryah Wilson. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Wilson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Reyana Heard was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs. Neeraja Thomas was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs.
Hardaway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .875. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hardaway's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Columbus, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
Columbus took their victory against Hardaway in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-1 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
