Softball Recap: Silver Creek Takes a Loss

Silver Creek extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 11-11. They lost 17-0 to the Horizon Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 two weeks ago.

As for Horizon, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Horizon's part, Kaiya Barela was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Barela has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Larrissa Arvizo was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tessa Munsch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Silver Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 victory against Monarch on the 11th. As for Horizon, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-2 loss against Broomfield on the 9th.
