Baseball Recap: Atkinson County Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Atkinson County won the last time they faced Wheeler County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rebels walked away with a 9-4 win over the Bulldogs. The victory was familiar territory for the Rebels, who have now won four games in a row.

Jack Tillman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Atkinson County got a big performance out of Gevin Smith, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Smith posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aidan Meeks, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Atkinson County's record now sits at 11-14. As for Wheeler County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Coming up, Atkinson County will face off against Turner County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
