Football Game Preview: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Sun Valley Spartans + How To Watch

The Cuthbertson Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the Sun Valley Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuthbertson will be strutting in after a win while Sun Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

Cuthbertson took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 23-8 victory over Piedmont. That looming 23-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cavaliers yet this season.

It was another big night for Mason Iovino, who rushed for 177 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Iovino is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 110 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley lost to Weddington on the road by a 21-6 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Warriors are ranked fifth).

Sun Valley now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cuthbertson, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Cuthbertson and Sun Valley were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Cuthbertson came up empty-handed after a 14-13 loss. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
