Baseball Recap: Wilkinson County Comes Up Short at Home Against Rutland

Wilkinson County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rutland Hurricanes on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 13 in a row.

Wilkinson County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roosevelt Coats, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Coats has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

The victory (which was Rutland's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

While Wilkinson County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
