Basketball Recap: Ponderosa Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

If Bella Vista wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ponderosa, they should've done a better job of containing Brooklynn Nordquist. The Ponderosa Bruins really took it to the Bella Vista Broncos for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-43 win thanks in part to Nordquist, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Bella Vista's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Thome, who posted 21 points and five steals. That was a full 48.8% of Bella Vista's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Jensen, who earned eight points and nine rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Ponderosa and bumps their season record up to 22-2. As for Bella Vista, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa will take on Christian Brothers at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Bella Vista, they will face off against Rio Americano at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bella Vista is facing Rio Americano at the right time seeing as Rio Americano is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
