Softball Recap: Malvern Has No Trouble Against Lake Hamilton

Malvern won the last time they faced Lake Hamilton and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Malvern Leopards' way against the Lake Hamilton Wolves as the Malvern Leopards made off with a 13-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Leopards.

Kendall Watson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She also allowed three hits, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Takayla Stewart and Emily Minge did most of the damage at the plate: Stewart went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Minge went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Stewart also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jenna Joynt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Malvern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

The win got Malvern back to even at 2-2. As for Lake Hamilton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malvern will head out to face off against Taylor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Hamilton, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hot Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Hamilton has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
