Softball Recap: Highland Wins Going Away Against Canton

It was a proper cat-fight when Highland duked it out with Canton on Tuesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Abby Lay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Keera Rothweiler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Manda Jennings was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Highland's record now sits at 5-2. As for Canton, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will head out to take on Kirksville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Canton, they will venture away from home to square off against Silex at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
