Palisade is 8-2 against Montrose since August of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Red Hawks at 3:00 p.m. Palisade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Palisade took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Fruita Monument 7-6.

MacKenzie Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024.

Gray wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joey Donaldson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Montrose nor Gunnison made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Red Hawks were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Cowboys. Considering the Red Hawks have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Like Palisade, Montrose also got a great game from a two-way player: Bentley Schiller. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Schiller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Isabelle Mott was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abby Siegel, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI.

Montrose hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunnison struck out 13 times.

Montrose has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Palisade, their record now sits at 13-7.

Both Palisade and Montrose just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Montrose struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Palisade skirted past Montrose 3-2 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
