Soccer Game Preview: Placer vs. Central Catholic

The Placer Hillmen will face off against the Central Catholic Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Placer is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Placer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Orestimba a 2-0 shutout. Given the Hillmen's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Warriors are ranked 735th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic's game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They won by a goal and slipped past Sonora 2-1.

Emma Sahagan and Reese Oliveira scored both of Central Catholic's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Placer's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
