The Olathe West Owls will face off against the Shawnee Mission East Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olathe West will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Olathe West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Mill Valley, who was ranked third at the time (Olathe West was ranked 18th). The Owls enjoyed a cozy 52-36 victory over the Jaguars on Friday. The Owls' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Olathe West had a senior duo take command as Brody Hale rushed for 60 yards and a pair of TDs and Josh Foland gained 198 total yards and a touchdown. Foland also set a new season-high mark in rushing yards with 147. Sam Krzykowski was another key player, gaining 89 total yards and a touchdown.
Olathe West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 352 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission East waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 49-21 win over the Bison. That 28 point margin sets a new team best for the Lancers this season.
Olathe West better keep an eye on Jack Reeves. He was instrumental in Shawnee Mission East's win, rushing for 216 yards and four scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 51 yards and one touchdown. Reeves really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Another player making a difference was Thomas Vanice, who gained 151 total yards.
Olathe West's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Shawnee Mission East, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Olathe West has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Shawnee Mission East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 311.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Olathe West was able to grind out a solid victory over Shawnee Mission East when the teams last played back in October of 2021, winning 45-34. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
