New Garden Friends waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 62-53. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

New Garden Friends' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kingston Clifton, who posted 24 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clifton has scored at least a third of New Garden Friends' points. Another player making a difference was Curtis Russell, who put up 17 points and three steals.

New Garden Friends was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Cape Fear Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Justin Chestnutt, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Chestnutt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Dunkins, who had ten points and six boards.

New Garden Friends has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

New Garden Friends has already played their next match, a 56-45 victory against Carolina Day on the 25th. Cape Fear Christian Academy has also already played their next game (against The O'Neal School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
