Softball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Tigers vs. Lincoln County Red Devils

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washington-Wilkes). Everything went their way against the Lincoln County Red Devils on Thursday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 10, 2024 (when they won 21-3).

Washington-Wilkes let Molly Dawson and Rylie Welborn run wild. Dawson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Welborn went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Welborn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaidyn Porter, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Washington-Wilkes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln County only posted a batting average of .111.

Washington-Wilkes' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Lincoln County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-7 record.
