Recap: Marin Catholic Wildcats vs. Saint Francis Lancers
The Marin Catholic Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saint Francis. While losing is never fun, Marin Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Saint Francis is ranked 92nd).
Saint Francis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Coyle led the charge by scoring 10 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maia Jimenez, who scored 11 points.
Marin Catholic has fallen quite a ways from their 28-6 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Saint Francis, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marin Catholic will take on Salesian College Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Saint Francis, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Fremont at 7:00 p.m.
