Who had Indiana's best individual performances? You vote, you decide. MaxPreps is proud to sponsor the Indiana Athlete of the Week awards during the 2024-25 school year.

~ Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. 

~ Each winner receives a digital award patch for their MaxPreps player page. 

How does it work?

Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.

Participants may manually vote as many times as they want. It's a competition. This past week, over 20,000 votes were cast! So far this school year 4.6-million votes have been cast.

Week 13 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Kole Wilcox, North Judson-San Pierre Football
Senior carried the ball 11 times for 154 yards and six TDs and caught a 29-yard TD pass in a 70-6 win over Taylor. Has 1,754 yards rushing, 386 yards receiving and 40 TDs this season. Has accounted for 64 total TDs, 3,872 all-purpose yards and 2,969 passing yards in his career.
 
* Madalynn Shirley, Evansville Central Girls Basketball
Junior opened the season with 107 points, 34 rebounds, 13 steals and 12 blocks in wins over Carmel, Crawford County and Corydon Central and a loss to Washington. Her 26.8 points per game currently ranks seventh nationally.

Week 14-15 Indiana High School Athlete of the Week Nominees

* Jamison Roach, Adams Central (Monroe) Football
Sophomore ran for 142 yards on 16 carries and three TDs as the Flying Jets conquered Linton-Stockton 46-6 in the IHSAA Class 2A final. The three TD performance was part of seven rushing TDs for the team, which tied a finals record.
 
* Josh Ranes, New Palestine Football
Junior tied three IHSAA 4A championship game records – rushing TDs (four), touchdowns (four) and points (24) – in a 56-26 win over East Noble.
 
* Brynn Owens, Austin Girls Basketball
Junior had 35 points, nine assists and eight steals in a 76-31 win over Switzerland County. Also dropped 40 points (six 3s) in a 62-50 win over Scottsburg. Averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals. Has 1,168 career points.
 
* Jamere Pendleton, Brownsburg Football
Senior blocked a punt and returned it for a TD in the Bulldogs 22-17 win over Westfield in the IHSAA Class 6 A final. Also added four tackles and a TFL.
 
* Preston Kempf, Providence (Clarksville) Football
Senior ran for 200 yards on 23 carries and accounted for all five TDs (four rushing and one passing) in a 35-20 win over North Judson-San Pierre in the IHSAA Class 1A final.
 
* Aniah Smith, Avon Girls Basketball
Senior had 146 points, 51 rebounds, 25 steals and 21 assists in a six-game stretch that went 5-1 for the Oriles. Averaging 24.9 points (ranks 19th nationally), 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 4.4 assists. Career totals are 1,364 points, 318 assists, 305 steals and 291 rebounds.
 
* Jett Goldsberry and Hunter Meredith, Heritage Hills (Lincoln City) Football
Tandem dominated in a 38-15 win over Ft. Wayne Bishop Leurs in the IHSAA Class 3A final. Goldsberry, a junior QB, carried the ball 18 times for 177 yards and three TDS, while Meredith, a senior back, carried the ball 19 times for 141 yards and two TDs. Goldsberry also threw for 71 yards, averaged 49.5-yards per punt, had eight tackles (six solo) and two TFL. Meredith had 206 all-purpose yards (KR and PR), seven tackles and a TFL.
 
* Fa'Rel Carter, Decatur Central (Indianapolis) Football
Junior had 249 all-purpose yards (including 170 rushing on 16 carries), three TDs, two tackles and an interception in a 38-24 win over Warsaw in the IHSAA Class 5A final.

* Marco Castro, Kankakee Valley (Wheatfield, Ind.) Football
Senior carried the ball 34 times for 336 yards and three TDs in a 23-0 win over Rensselaer Central.
 
* Keira Lucas, Northview (Brazil, Ind.) Volleyball
Senior leads the state with 155 kills. Had a season-high 33 in a 3-1 win over Plainfield. Also has 159 digs. Has 1,686 career kills and 1,002 digs.
 
* Noah Moore, White River Valley (Switz City, Ind.) Boys Soccer
Sophomore has a state-best 22 points entering the week. Had four goals in a 9-0 win over Austin and three goals and an assist in a 7-1 win over Clarksville.

Week 2 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Brock Shank, Northwestern (Kokomo) Football
Senior went over 4,000-career passing yards with 412 yards and six TDs on 15-of-27 passing in a 45-27 win over Eastern. Now has 4,166 career yards and 37 TDs.
 
* Ava McCune, Culver Community (Culver) Girls Soccer
Freshman scored six goals in a 7-2 win over South Bend Riley and three goals in a 4-2 win over DeMotte Christian. Her 17 goals and 36 points currently rank seventh and ninth nationally, respectively.
 
*Cale Barger, Scottsburg Boys Soccer
Junior scored seven goals in an 8-0 win over Lanesville.

Week 3 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Jameson Crawford, Knightstown Football
Junior carried the ball 11 times for 202 yards and seven TDs in a 75-0 win over Union County.
 
* Matthew Saaty, Indiana School for the Deaf (Indianapolis) Football
Junior carried the ball 25 times for 398 yards and four TDs and completed 5-of-11 passes for 90 yards and a TD in a 48-44 loss to Traders Point Christian.

Week 4 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Liam Hannon, Muncie Burris Boys Soccer
Senior scored his 50th point this season with a goal in a 2-1 win over Heritage Christian. Also had three goals and four assists in a 10-0 win over Seton Catholic and three goals and three assists in a 9-0 win over Liberty Christian. Has 168 career points (58 goals and 52 assists).
 
* Stella Wolfe, Corydon Central Girls Soccer
Junior had four goals in a 10-0 win over Trinity Lutheran and three goals in a 7-0 win over Austin. Has 14 goals this season.
 
* Grace Sailors, North Miami (Denver) Volleyball
Junior reached 500 career kills with 21 in a 3-0 win over Argos. Also had 22 kills in a 3-1 win over Lewis Cass. Her 270 kills this season currently ranks second in Indiana.

Week 5 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Corbin Johnson, South Decatur (Greensburg) Football
Senior went over 4,000-career rushing yards and scored 40 points in a 53-12 win over Crimson.  Rushed for 278 yards and four TDs on 20 carries, intercepted three passes (retuned two for TDs), scored on a 2-point conversion run and added a safety. His 18 TDs and 122 points this season rank fifth nationally. Currently has 4,001 career rushing yards and 56 TDs. Has 4,819 career all-purpose yards and 60 total TDs. Averages 12.1 points per game over his career (32 games).
 
* Colin Cook, Northwestern (Kokomo) Football
Making his first start, freshman completed 18-of-27 passes for 435 yards and seven TDs in a 47-16 win over Whitko. Coming into the game he was 1-for-4 for seven yards in two previous appearances.
 
* Dominic Garzolini and Aden Wallace, South Vermillion (Clinton, Ind.) Football
Senior pass and catch tandem turned up huge in 48-14 win over Covington, Garzolini completed 16-of-23 passes for 417 yards and six TDs, while Wallace caught eight passes for 220 yards and three TDs. Garzolini has thrown for 1,542 yards and 20 TDs in five games, while Wallace has 27 receptions for 648 yards and eight TDs.

Week 6 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Emory Smith, Bethesda Christian (Brownsburg) Girls Soccer
Senior surpassed 150 career points with 28 (12 goals and four assists) in wins over Greenwood Christian Academy, Indy genesis HomeSchool and Indianapolis Shortridge. Her 38 goals and 85 points this season both reank third in Indiana and are fifth and sixth nationally, respectively. Currently has 71 career goals, 13 assists and 155 points.
 
* Cian Moore, Covington Football
Senior went over 2,000-career rushing yards and 3,000-career all-purpose yards with 323 yards and five TDs on 18 carries in a 38-0 win over Parke Heritage. Also had 10 tackles, an interception and forced fumble.

Week 7 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Levi Muhlenkamp, Jay County (Portland) Boys Soccer
Senior followed up a six-goal game against Blackford with a seven-goal outing in a win over Liberty Christian. His 34 goals this season rank second in Indiana and 26th nationally. His 71 points are fifth and 48, respectively.
 
*Samir Del Rio, Boone Grove (Valparaiso) Football
Senior caught seven passes for 178 yards and four TDs, made 12 tackles and returned a fumble for a TD in a 47-28 win over Whiting. Has 52 receptions for 786 yards and 10 TDs this season.

Week 8 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Braylen Townsend, Bloomington South Football
Junior carried the ball 37 times for 337 yards and five TDs and caught a 60-yard TD pass in a 68-57loss to Brebeuf Jesuit Prep. Has rushed for 1,305 yards and 15 TDs this season.
 
* Sophie Goodwin, Lapel Girls Soccer
Junior had three straight hat tricks (three goals) in wins over Elwood (two) and Tipton. Has 73 points this season (29 goals and 15 assists).

Week 9 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Caiden Verrett, Hanover Central (Cedar Lake) Football
Senior carried the ball 13 times for 134 yards and four TDs and caught a 45-yard TD pass in a 48-26 win over Hammond Central. Has 1,208 yards rushing and 24 total TDs this season and 3,063 career-rushing yards and 65 total career TDs.
 
* Haylee Mathas, Riverton Parke (Montezuma) Volleyball
Senior had 50 digs in a 3-2 win over Covington and reached 500 digs on the season for the third straight year. Currently has 2,023-career digs.

Week 10 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Hank Lin, Columbus North Boys Tennis
Senior won the IHSAA state singles title to cap an undefeated season (27-0) and become the program’s first state champ. Finished state runner-up last season.
 
* Quinn Gillman, Franklin County (Brookville) Football
Senior had four interceptions (returned on for a TD) and six tackles, completed 17-of-23 passes for 198 yards and two TDs and carried the ball 18 times for 91 yards and two TDs in a 33-19 win over Rushville. Has thrown for 1,918 yards and 22 TDs and rushed for 1,073 yards and 12 TDs this season. Also has six INTs, two caused fumbles, a fumble recovery and 45 tackles this season.
 
* Nathan Byrd, Scottsburg Football
Junior completed 10-of-16 passes for 277 yards and six TDs and ran for a TD in a 76-9 win over Owen Valley. Has thrown for 2,049 yards and 32 TDs this season. Career numbers read 4,892 yards passing and 75 total TDs accounted for (66 passing).
 
* Jett Goldsberry, Heritage Hills (Lincoln City) Football
Junior carried the ball 19 times for 187 yards and five TDs and completed 11-of-18 passes for 131 yards in a 35-18 win over Gibson Southern. Career numbers read 2,698 yards passing and 35 TDs and 2,653 rushing yards and 45 TDs.

Week 11 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Jesiah McDaniel, North Judson-San Pierre Football
Senior had four interceptions (returned one for a TD) and carried the ball six times for 58 yards and two TDs in 58-0 win over Culver Community. Has nine interceptions this season (ranks 27th nationally) and 21 in his career to go with 219 tackles. Has also scored 34 career TDs.
 
* Myles Mclaughlin and Jake Conroy, Knox Football
Tandem each eclipsed 200 yards rushing in a 66-28 win over Griffith. McLaughlin, a junior, carried the ball 17 times for 222 yards and four TDs, while Conroy, a senior, carried the ball 11 times for 218 yards and three TDs. The dup also hooked up for a 52-yard TD pass (Mclaughlin to Conroy). Mclaughlin has rushed for a state-best 2,180 yards and 33 TDs this season, while Conroy has added 1,546 yards rushing and 24 TDs.

Week 12 Indiana High School Athletes of the Week

* Raegan Durbin, Western Boone (Thorntown) Volleyball
Senior and Middle Tennessee recruit set a 2A finals record with 24 kills in her team’s 3-0 win over Brownstown Central in the IHSAA state championship.
 
* Jaron Thomas, Concord (Elkhart) Football
Senior had 23 tackles (10 solo) and carried the ball seven times for 155 yards and two TDs in a 31-28 loss to Warsaw. Finished the season with 1,443 yards rushing, 21 TDs and 146 tackles.
 
* Sophia Gisslen, Carroll (Fort Wayne) Volleyball
Junior had 31 assists, eight digs and three kills in a 3-0 win over Yorktown in the IHSAA 4A state final. Finished season with 1,112 assists, which ranks second in the state.
