Football Recap: Southeast of Saline Skates Past Lyons with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southeast of Saline). They claimed a resounding 73-7 win over the Lyons Lions. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Lions are ranked 209th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southeast of Saline to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gannon Jacobson, who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, and also rushed for 79 yards and one score. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 63 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Grady Gebhardt, who rushed for 47 yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southeast of Saline was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Southeast of Saline's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Lyons, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Southeast of Saline will host Hillsboro on Friday. As for Lyons, they will head out on the road to square off against Nickerson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
