Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Kennesaw Mountain's Winning Streak

Kennesaw Mountain dropped down to 4-11 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 4-0 to the East Paulding Raiders. The Mustangs were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Raiders' pitchers proved too tough.

As for East Paulding, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

For East Paulding's part, Emma Hernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Hernandez has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Heal, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ansley Shiver, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Kennesaw Mountain will challenge Lithia Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Paulding, they will take on North Gwinnett in a tournament on Saturday.
