Basketball Game Preview: Apostles Lutheran Falcons vs. East Palo Alto Academy Bulldogs

The Apostles Lutheran Falcons will face off against the East Palo Alto Academy Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Apostles Lutheran and 24 for East Palo Alto Academy dating back to last season.

Apostles Lutheran is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Averroes on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Apostles Lutheran had to suffer through a 49-21 loss at the hands of Averroes. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.

The losing side was boosted by Hally Zou, who posted 17 points and seven boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played.

Even though they lost, Apostles Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, East Palo Alto Academy took a blow against Mountain View Academy on Thursday, falling 54-14. The Bulldogs were down 38-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Apostles Lutheran will have to contain Perla Sanchez as she made an impact in East Palo Alto Academy's last game. She put up eight points.

Apostles Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for East Palo Alto Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Apostles Lutheran took a serious blow against East Palo Alto Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 60-13. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Apostles Lutheran was down 35-10.
