Football Recap: Kimball Comes Up Short

Kimball had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles, falling 32-8. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Eagles are ranked 35th).

As for Eden Valley-Watkins, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games.

Brayden Becker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 184 receiving yards and four scores. Those four receiving touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kimball will host Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cubs will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Eden Valley-Watkins, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Paynesville at 7:00 p.m.
