Washington (Massillon, Ohio)Starting with its first
recognized national championship under coach Paul Brown in 1935, the
Tigers dominated high school football for three decades with additional
national championships in 1936, 1939, 1940, 1950, 1952, 1953, 1959 and
1961.

Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)While De La Salle (Concord)
can certainly stake its claim to being the high school football dynasty
right now, the honor has to go to the Monarchs, who have won four
national titles (2017, 2018, 2020, 2021) since the Spartans won their
last national title (2015).

Boys basketballThen —
Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.)While
powerhouses like DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), Dunbar (Baltimore)
and St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) all had their moments during the
1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s, it was Oak Hill Academy, under coach Steve
Smith, that dominated the spotlight around the turn of the century with
seven national championships (1993, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2012).
Now —
Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.)In
nine short seasons, the Eagles racked up six national championships
under coach Kevin Boyle. Montverde Academy won three straight from
2013-15, added another in 2018 and had back-to-back crowns in 2020-21.
Girls basketballThen —
Oregon City (Ore.)Winners
of 12 state championships in the 1990s and 2000s, Oregon City also won
three straight national championships from 1995 to 1997.
Now —
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)No
team in the nation has finished in the top 100 in the MaxPreps rankings
over the past 10 seasons except for the Monarchs, who won a national
championship in 2015.
BaseballThen —
Tucson High Magnet School (Tucson, Ariz.)Between 1912
and 1988, the Badgers won a national record 29 state championships. The
best team out of that group is the 1972 team, which went 25-0 and is
recognized as the retroactive national champion for that season.
Now —
Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.)The
Panthers have won nine state championships since 1996 and they have
been named national champions by at least one media outlet in three
different seasons (2012, 2015 and 2018).
SoftballThen —
Crescent (Iva, S.C.)Although
they may not have been in contention for national championship honors
on a regular basis, Crescent was certainly a dynasty in South Carolina
where it won a national record 18 state championships between 1988 and
2009 including 11 in a row.

Norco (Calif.) The Cougars have won
seven Southern Section championships and three MaxPreps computer
national championships since 2011 and have finished in the top 10 in the
national rankings seven times.

Perry (Okla.)Since winning its first state championship in 1952, Perry has gone on to win a national record 42 state championships.

St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio)The
Wildcats have won a combination of 42 state tournament and dual
tournament championships since 1978 as well as 11 mythical national
championships.

West Genesee (Camillus, N.Y.)The
Wildcats have won a national record 15 state championships and hold the
longest win streak with 91 games in a row from 1981 to 1984.

Darien (Conn.)The Blue Wave has won 14 state championships since 1997 and were regarded as national champions in 2017.

Mt. Hebron (Ellicott City, Md.)The Vikings won a national record 15 state championships from 1992 to 2007 including 11 in a row from 1997 to 2007.

McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.)The
Eagles don't play for state championships as members of the
Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland, but it did earn
multiple mythical national championships from 2009 to 2018 during its
198-match consecutive win streak.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita, Kan.)The
Crusaders have won 25 state championships since 1970, including 20
under legendary coach Ed Kriewel, who also won nine state championships
as the school's football coach.

Westlake (Austin, Texas)Winners of five straight Texas 6A state championships, the Chaparrals have also been ranked national champions (2017) by the National High School Golf Association and have finished among the top 5 teams in the country five of the past six seasons.

Xavier College Prep (Phoenix)The
Gator dynasty certainly hasn't waned over the years as they've posted
37 state championships including streaks of 16 and 12 in a row.

Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.)The
Longhorns have been the best team in the nation for much of the past
decade, winning eight state championships since 2013 and back-to-back
national championships in 2021 and 2022.

Chatham Borough (N.J.)
One of the first soccer dynasties in New Jersey, Chatham won its first state championship in 1958 and racked up a total of 16 before consolidating with Chatham Township.

St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.)Winners of 87 straight matches, St. Benedict won its 33rd Prep A championship and finished the season undefeated at 17-0. The Gray Bees have been recognized as national champions 15 times.

Franklin (Tenn.)The Admirals set the record for consecutive wins, capturing 83 straight victories between 1982 and 1987 while collecting 11 state championships.

St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)The Raiders have earned 15 state championships and broke Franklin's record with 119 consecutive wins from 1994 to 1998.

Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)Under the leadership of coach Louise Crocco, Cardinal Gibbons ruled Florida volleyball in the 1970s and 80s, winning 20 state championships from 1975 to 2015.

Assumption (Louisville, Ky.)If the Rockets' 22 state championships since 1992 weren't impressive enough, consider that Assumption plays in Kentucky, which has only one enrollment division for the state tournament. The Rockets' home town of Louisville also has some of the most competitive volleyball programs in the country.

Punahou (Honolulu)Winners of 38 state championships since the sport began in 1969 including 11 in a row from 1980 to 1990.

St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.)The Tigers have won 34 straight state championships and have also been named national champions the past two years by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.

Pine Crest (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)From 1956 to 1990, Pine Crest (Fort Lauderdale) was the team to beat in Florida, racking up 27 state championships, including 21 in a row from 1956 to 1976.

Carmel (Ind.)Carmel is the new queen of the pool with 37 national championships that includes a national record 36 in a row since 1986.
Boys track and fieldThen —
Central (Little Rock, Ark.)Under coach Earl Quigley, Central set national record with 50 state championships in boys track and field. The Tigers won 18 in a row from 1926 to 1945.
Now —
Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City, Texas)Last year, the Buffaloes won their fifth state championship in seven seasons at the 5A level in Texas. Marshall also has an outstanding girls program which won back-to-back titles in 2021-22.

Punahou (Honolulu)Punahou has won 38 state championships in girls track starting in 1967. The Buff 'N Blue won 12 in a row from 1981 to 1992.
Now —
Long Beach Poly (Calif.)California holds a single enrollment classification at its state track and field meet and the Jackrabbits have claimed 15 state titles in girls track since collecting their first one in 1992. No other school has more than five state titles.
Boys cross countryThen —
Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.)The Colts have not lost a dual meet since 1973 and had 385 consecutive wins entering the 2022 season. CBA has won 25 Meet of Champions in New Jersey.
Now —
Newbury Park (Calif.)The Panthers don't have a long history, but their recent success has been dominant. They set a state record with a low of 16 points in the 2021 state meet and followed that effort with a score of 24 in the 2022 state finals. Newbury Park has been the top team in the nation the past two years.
Girls cross countryThen —
St. Paul's Episcopal (Mobile, Ala.)One of the dominant teams in Alabama ever since girls cross country first began in 1973, St. Paul's won 16 straight state championships from 1983 to 1998.

Fayetteville-Manlius (Manlius, N.Y.)At the national level, the Hornets have been sensational, winning 11 national championships from 2006 to 2017 by taking first place at the Nike Cross Nationals.
Field hockeyThen —
Casady (Oklahoma City, Okla.)The Cyclones didn't lose any games for over 14 years, putting together a streak of 106 straight wins from 1956 to 1969.
Now —
Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.)Prior to losing in a 2022 Group 4 quarterfinal matchup, Eastern had won 23 straight state championships and had outscored opponents 822-56 with 74 shutouts.
Girls gymnasticsThen —
Sehome (Bellingham, Wash.)From 1970 to 2000, Sehome won 22 state championships under coach Nola Ayres, who had a career record of 384-1.
Now —
Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Broadview Heights, Ohio)The Bees have a current streak of 19 straight state championships and had a consecutive meet win streak of 777 victories in a row.

Mount St. Charles Academy (Woonsocket, R.I.)Between 1933 and 2014, the Mounties won 44 state championships under coach Bill Belisle, who had 1,000 career wins.

St. Ignatius (Cleveland)The Wildcats have won seven state championships since 2000, including four in a row from 2016 to 2019.
Girls ice hockeyThen —
South St. Paul (Minn.)Girls ice hockey is still in its infancy, but St. Paul South dominated in the first part of the 2000s with four state championships and 67 wins in a row.

Andover (Minn.)The Huskies have won two state championships in the past three seasons, including a 30-0 record in 2022.

Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.)The Cherry Creek boys tennis team is still going strong, winning its 45th state championship out of 51 seasons this past fall. But the Bruins were particularly powerful at the beginning of their dynasty, winning 316 straight matches from 1972 to 1999.

Albuquerque Academy (Albuquerque)The Chargers have the latest dynastic run in the sport with an active state championship win streak of 19 titles in a row.
Girls tennisThen —
Punahou (Honolulu)The Buff 'N Blue have won 46 state championships in Hawaii, starting with 14 straight between 1959 and 1972.
Now —
Edina (Minn.)Since 1981, Edina has won 31 state championships, including 19 in a row from 1997 to 2015.
Boys water poloThen —
Woodrow Wilson (Long Beach, Calif.)The Bruins dominated the sport in the 1990s and early 2000s, winning 11 Southern Section championships between 1994 and 2011.

Newport Harbor (Calif.)Everything
old is new again in Southern Section water polo. Newport Harbor won 10
Southern Section championships between 1967 and 1983, but they are back
at it again, winning back to back championships in 2021 and 2022.

Santa Barbara (Calif.)When the Southern Section first began hosting girls water polo championships, Santa Barbara was the team to beat, winning eight section championships from 1998 to 2006.

Punahou (Honolulu)
Winners of 13 straight state championships since 2008, the Buff 'N Blue have 15 total state championships since Hawaii first started holding state finals in 2004.
