Football Recap: Crownpoint Comes Up Short at Home Against Pojoaque Valley + How To Watch

Crownpoint unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes on Friday, falling 54-0. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Elks/Elkettes from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Joshua Gonzales went supernova For Pojoaque Valley., rushing for 64 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 226 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. Gonzales also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending two passes. Joaquin Baca was in the mix as well, providing Pojoaque Valley with two scores.

Coming up, Crownpoint will head out to challenge Montezuma-Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pojoaque Valley, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Hot Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
