Basketball Recap: Eastlake Comes Up Short

Eastlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals, falling 71-28. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 844th, while the Cardinals are ranked 236th).

Eastlake's loss came despite strong showings from Lauren Villaruel and Jordyn Pamintuan. Villaruel posted ten points and five rebounds, while Pamintuan put up six points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Villaruel has posted since back in December of 2023.

Even though they lost, Eastlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Eastlake's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Eastlake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-19 loss against Peninsula on the 27th. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-30 victory against Sage Creek on the 27th.
