Basketball Game Preview: Westridge Tigers vs. Mayfield Cubs

The Westridge Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Mayfield Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westridge will be strutting in after a victory while Mayfield will be coming in after a defeat.

Westridge headed into their last contest having not scored more than 25 points for three straight, but Southwestern Academy let them put that streak behind them. Westridge claimed a resounding 55-5 win over Southwestern Academy. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-44 loss at the hands of Rio Hondo Prep. The Cubs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-17.

Mayfield now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Westridge, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10.

Westridge didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mayfield in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
