Alleghany put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 22-21 W against the Staunton Storm. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Storm are ranked 206th).

Alleghany's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Staunton, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coincidentally, Alleghany and Staunton will both be playing Waynesboro the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Little Giants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Storm will host them at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
