Softball Recap: Academy for Classical Education Has No Trouble Against Dodge County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Veterans, Academy for Classical Education was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Dodge County Indians. The win continues a trend for the Gryphons in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

Giselle Giles spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Sophie Denney and Avery Stone did most of the damage at the plate: Denney went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Stone got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Thames, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory got Academy for Classical Education back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy for Classical Education will challenge Veterans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dodge County, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Bleckley County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
