Soccer Recap: Saint Mary's Gets the Win

Saint Mary kept a clean sheet against El Cerrito on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the El Cerrito Gauchos 1-0. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Gauchos are ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saint Mary's one-goal win came courtesy of Sophia De Loa Ramirez, who's now up to two this season.

Saint Mary's victory bumped their record up to 3-0-1. As for El Cerrito, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Saint Mary's didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Head-Royce on the 12th. As for El Cerrito, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 0-0 draw against Pinole Valley on the 12th.
