Football Recap: Grants Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Grants had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Miyamura Patriots 36-14 on Friday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Tristin Fernandez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 72 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Julian Fernandez was another key player, gaining 49 total yards and two touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Grants proved: they limited Miyamura to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Gary Chavez for the heroic effort on defense: he. Grants' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.
