Baseball Game Preview: Bethel Jaguars vs. Hercules Titans

The Bethel Jaguars will challenge the Hercules Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bethel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Kennedy 15-5 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Oscar Patino was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has become a key player for Bethel: the team is undefeated when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 2-10 otherwise. Patino was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Xzavier Solis was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Keith Salmon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hercules unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They and Swett finished up on equal footing with an 8-8 draw.

Hercules' tie gives them a new season record of 8-8-2. As for Bethel, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bethel has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hercules struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
