Soccer Game Preview: Argonaut vs. Galt

The Argonaut Mustangs will square off against the Galt Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Argonaut is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Argonaut took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Bradshaw Christian a 2-0 shutout. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the The Pride are ranked 794th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kailey Carney and Brookelynn Lockhart scored both of Argonaut's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Galt). They put the hurt on Amador with a sharp 8-0 victory on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Argonaut's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matches. As for Galt, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season.

Argonaut beat Galt by a goal in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 1-0. Will Argonaut repeat their success, or does Galt have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
