Basketball Recap: Montgomery Central Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Montgomery Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 61-45 bruising from the Anson Bearcats on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Timberwolves of the 86-64 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Anson was led to victory by Taviane Robinson and Graham Davis. Robinson dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards, while Davis dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordarius Bivens, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Montgomery Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-44 win against Wheatmore on the 20th. As for Anson, they have also already played their next contest, a 76-47 victory against Albemarle on the 21st.
