Rifle had lost five games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 4-1 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They never let the Montrose Red Hawks get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Rylan Petree, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyhler Decrow, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Montrose fell to 3-1. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but Rifle's pitcher proved too tough.

On Montrose's side, Bentley Schiller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Schiller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Montrose saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Blacker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Blacker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Arianna Mora also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Montrose beat Rifle by a score of 3-2 later that day.
