Football Recap: Cambridge Piles Up the Points Against Axtell

While Cambridge put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Axtell. The Trojans really took it to the Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-0 win. Fans of the Trojans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Cambridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brady Ahlemeyer led the charge by rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also catching one TD. Micah Gerlach was another key player, rushing for 121 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cambridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 506 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Cambridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Hodge Raburn, Ahlemeyer, and Alyk Gray picked up one apiece.

Cambridge's record is now 3-0. As for Axtell, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Cambridge has already played their next game, a 56-6 victory against Bertrand on the 18th. As for Axtell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-28 defeat against Wilcox-Hildreth on the 19th.
