Softball Game Preview: North Scott Lancers vs. Norwalk Warriors

The North Scott Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Norwalk Warriors on Monday. North Scott's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Norwalk's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

North Scott can't be too worried about heading out to take on Norwalk: they just beat Clear Creek-Amana at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Lancers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Clippers on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, while Norwalk put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Oskaloosa. The Warriors put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 12-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Norwalk pushed their record up to 33-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Scott, their victory bumped their record up to 22-9.

North Scott came out on top in a nail-biter against Norwalk when the teams last played back in July of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
