Softball Recap: Platteview Wins Going Away Against Ponca

While Platteview didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Ponca Indians on Friday. Considering the Trojans have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Khloe Hartman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savanna Alloway, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was McKenna Myers, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Platteview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponca struck out six times.

The victory made it two in a row for Platteview and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Ponca, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Platteview didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-2 victory against Omaha South on the 6th. As for Ponca, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-0 win against Bryan on the 6th.
