Baseball Recap: Oxford Takes a Loss

Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Paul Catholic Falcons. The Wolverines were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Jackson Geisweit was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Oxford: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-6 otherwise.

Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for St. Paul Catholic, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Oxford didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-3 defeat against Torrington on the 11th. As for St. Paul Catholic, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Ansonia on the 8th.
