Baseball Game Preview: McDonough Warhawks vs. Stockbridge Tigers

McDonough hasn't had much luck against Stockbridge recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The McDonough Warhawks will head out to take on the Stockbridge Tigers at 5:55 p.m. McDonough has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for McDonough's offense. They lost 17-0 to Stockbridge on Tuesday.

For Stockbridge's part, Brycen Norman-Jimil made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Norman-Jimil has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jonah Martin was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah McGeachy, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Stockbridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McDonough only posted an OBP of .200.

The victory made it two in a row for Stockbridge and bumps their season record up to 3-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for McDonough, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. McDonough has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stockbridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
