Baseball Recap: Reed-Custer Takes a Loss

Reed-Custer extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-21. They lost 18-0 to the Coal City Coalers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Coalers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Monday.

Reed-Custer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dhane Debelak, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Coal City, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The result was nothing new for the Coalers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Coal City's side, Kellen Forsythe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Forsythe has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Coal City got a massive performance out of Tyce Farrell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Farrell has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gavin Berger, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reed-Custer will face off against Serena at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Coal City, they will take on Kankakee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
